Getting started.. AGAIN

I have been hoping to start this again.  I noticed that my last post was exactly 2 years ago today.  I am taking that as a sign that it is time to get “re-started”.

I don’t know if it is the time of year, but I am having a hard time trying to inspire my students to  perservere.

I’m trying to get inspired to help answer higher level thinking questions, while at the same time helping students that don’t know the formulas for circumference, and area, or how to use them.  Many seem defeated before they begin…. But I keep trying…

The Joys of Coaching

Looking back on last year, I think I accomplished many of my goals.

1. My department members had all had the chance to apply The CRISS framework.

2.  All members of course teams were familiar with the PARCC blueprints, and course outlines, and CCSSM appendix A.

3.  All course teams had explored outlines and information from Engage New York, and the state of Maryland. Money were familiar with the Dana Center’s course outlines. They had explored some ideas from other sources as well.  They were familiar with the Math Practice Standards.

4.  Many department members had tried implementing some form of o line poll or assessment, for formative assessment.

I was hoping to continue the plan into this year…

Unfortunately, we seem to have gotten side-tracked with other things….
